Intro to eDraft

The library, the script window, and where the commands are.

eDraft is a screenwriting app. As you type, it formats each line as part of a screenplay — a scene heading, action, a character’s name, dialogue — on pages laid out the way they print.

The library

When you open eDraft, the library shows the scripts you opened most recently. Click a script to open it, or click New Screenplay to start one.

The script window

  • The Navigator, on the left, lists the script’s scenes, its cast, and its notes. Click an item to go to it.
  • The page, in the middle, is where you write.
  • The toolbar has Back, which returns to the library; the Element button, which shows the current line’s element; Focus; Layout; Page; Title Page; Export; and More.
  • Below the script’s name, the window shows its page count and an estimate of its running time.
  • The zoom control is in the lower-right corner of the window.

Commands for elements, scene numbers, and omitted scenes are in the Format menu. Commands for how the page looks are in the View menu.
